Coastal Lambed ~ February 23rd, 2012!!

On Thursday, February 23rd, 2012 I noticed that Coastal was in labor, so we watched for a bit. She was having hard contractions and then began to start laying down and pushing. We watched for a little bit, the bubble popped and there were two feet, we waited and watched to see if she would be able to get it out on her own . . . she pushed, pushed and pushed and it was not coming out. So we decided to try to help her out, it ended up being really stuck, I tried to pull it out, but was unable to so my sister had to pull the lamb out. Coastal had a big single ewe lamb. The sire is one of our Finnsh rams, Panda and the dam is one of our Katahdin ewes, Coastal. This is Panda's first lamb!! We are VERY pleased with his baby that he threw and we are planning on keeping the lamb:)

Here is a video of the birth ~

Panda

Panda is our Finnish sheep soon to become herd sire as of right now. He is a BEAUTIFUL bottle raised Finnish ram. He has great conformation and is just really nice and big. Panda also has REALLY nice and crimped black and white wool. We got him and his two sisters and brother (he is a quadruplet) the day after they were born. Him and his three siblings where born on Thursday, March 3rd, 2011. Panda is a VERY big baby. When I go down to his pen I say "Babies" or "Panda Boy" and he comes running up to the fence crying at me. He is a big sweetie pie.

Also you could go here to see his registration ~ http://littlehillssheepranch.blogspot.com/2011/11/fsb-617-panda.html .
