Spotty Lambed ~ June 5th, 2012!!

On June 5th, 2012 when my mom and one of my little sisters went out to feed the dogs late at night they found Spotty with a white new born ram lamb. Earlier that morning we brought Spotty up from the pasture, because she was VERY swollen and her udder was HUGE . . . even though she was 9 days away from her due date (she was just to ready looking to go out to pasture with the rest of the sheep).

The sire to the lamb is Panda, one of our Finnish Landrace rams and the dam is Spotty, one of our meat breed ewes.

Spot Lambed ~ June 4th, 2012!!

On Monday, June 4th, 2012 around 7:00 to 8:00am I went to check on Spot (I hadn't checked on her for several hours:)). When I went out I looked down by the chicken coop and saw a little lamb so I looked closer and sure enough Spot had twin lambs already out and standing. She had 1 BEAUTIFULLY red spotted EWE lamb and 1 pretty mostly white ram lamb with some red spots on his head and neck (he is marked almost identically like Spot [his mom]).

The sire to the lambs is a red Katahdin ram we use to own, Big Salmon and the dam is a Katahdin ewe of ours, Spot.

Here are some pictures ~

This is the ewe lamb, we plan on keeping her as a breeder.

This is the ram lamb, I don't know if we will be keeping him yet.

Cathy Lambed ~ April 9th, 2012!!

Monday morning, April 9th, 2012 it looked like she was in labor, so I was checking on her fairly often. Then about lunch time I looked at her and she was pushing so I looked closer and she had feet hanging out. I yelled back to mom at the house and told her. We watched and then a bit later she pushed the lamb out. It was a little black and white ram lamb. After she had him we thought that she was only going to have a single, but then a little later she had another lamb. It was also a little black and white ram lamb.

The sire to the lambs is a Painted Desert ram, named Eldorado and the dam to the lambs is one of our Painted Desert ewes, named Little Hills Cathy.

Here is a video of the birth ~

Queen Charlotte Lambed ~ April 4th, 2012

Early Wednesday morning we checked on Queen Charlotte around 5:45am to see if she had lambs yet and sure enough she had two big and BEAUTIFUL lambs on the ground. She had 1 brown and white spotted ewe lamb (she is SOO cute!) and 1 ram lamb thats black with a white tipped tail. The dam to the lambs is one of our meat ewes, named Queen Charlotte and the sire to the lambs is a Katahdin/Dorper ram, named Diamond. We are planning on keeping the ewe lamb for a breeder, since we really like her dam.

Julian lambed ~ February 28th, 2012!!

Well, early Tuesday morning, February 28th, 2012, Julian lambed (sometime around 3:30 or 4:00am). When my mom got up to check on her she already had lambed. She had two healthy regular sized ram lambs, one is mostly black with a white spot on his head and the other one is black and white spotted. The dam to the lambs is a %50Katahdin/%50Dorper ewe, Snicker's 2011 daughter (I don't have a name for her yet), and the sire is a Katahdin ram, Rocky.

Butter Mint Lambed ~ February 21st, 2012!!

Well, on Tuesday, February 21st, 2012 afternoon we all were in town, so we had my cousin's wife go check on Butter Mint. My cousin's wife called and told us that Butter Mint had a stream of mucus. So my mom, sister and some of the other siblings headed home. When they got home they watched her for about 20 minutes. After watching her they decided to go see what was going on. The lamb was stuck, so my sister and mom had to go in and pull the lamb out. It was a big ram lamb that was stuck pretty hard. Praise the Lord we got him out with the momma and baby being alive and fine. The sire is a Katahdin ram, Rocky and the sire is one of our Katahdin ewes, Butter Mint.
